Needles: 2.5 mm Inox DPNs
Yarn: Wollmeise Sockenwolle, 100% superwash Merino in “Single Malt”
Pattern: Boyfriend Socks by Slippedstitch
I finished this pair a tad late. It was meant to be the pair for
February in my plan of a pair of Wollmeise socks per month for this
year. But as you can see, it’s now nearing the end of March and I just
finished with my February pair. I definitely have some catching up to
do, now that my written exam re-sits are over. (FYI, the first one went
very well – at least my feeling tells me so -, the other one was, well,
kinda *meh*. So, I just hope that I really did well in that first one,
because I just need to pass one of the two now.)

I call this pair “Drunk Boyfriend” because the pattern for the socks is called “Boyfriend Socks“, whilst the yarn colourway name is “Single Malt“. So, mixing the two together, you get a “Drunk Boyfriend”. LOL.

I thoroughly enjoy knitting this pattern. The pattern is easy to memorise and the cables are small enough to do without the help of a cable needle.
As for the Wollmeise
yarn, do I need to say anything about it? I like the intensity of the
colours and I love the feel of the fabric the base yarn produces. True,
I could have chosen a colourway that is more semi-solid than this
(there are Single Malts out there that are more semi-solid than mine)
and the cables will “pop” more than in this contrasting colour.
However, I think that as long as the differences between the colours
aren’t that wild and that it is kept within a smaller canvas like socks
(and not on bigger canvas like, say, a jumper), then the fact that the
stitch/cable pattern is partly drowned out by the colours is not too
severe and thus still works well. Apart from that, I think it’s pretty
cool that the colour pools in a cool way in one sock, while it spirals
on the other sock (this is because my gauge got tighter by the time I
was knitting the latter sock).
